Difficulties in laser welding of lithium battery:

1. The battery shell made of aluminum alloy material accounts for 90% of the power. Its difficulties are due to the high reflectivity of aluminum alloy and the sensitivity of pores, as well as the inevitable problems in the welding process, mainly pores, thermal cracks and bursts.

2. Aluminum alloy laser welding is easy to produce pores, there are mainly two kinds: hydrogen holes and pores caused by the rupture of pores. During laser welding, the cooling time is too fast, which leads to the hydrogen production problem, and also leads to the porosity caused by the collapse of small holes.

3. Hot crack: Because aluminum alloy is a typical eutectic alloy, in the welding process, it is easy to produce hot cracks, such as welding crystallization cracking, HAZ liquefaction cracking, etc., due to the analysis of the composition of the weld zone, resulting in the melting of the grain boundary, under the action of stress, will produce liquefaction cracks in the grain boundary, resulting in the deterioration of the performance of the welding joint.

4. Explosive fire (also known as splash), there are many reasons for the explosion, such as the cleanliness of the material, the purity of the material, the nature of the material itself and so on, and the stability is the key to determine the explosion. The main reason for this phenomenon is that the diameter of the optical fiber is too small, or because the power of the laser is set too high. The beam quality and welding performance claimed by some manufacturers are not to say that the beam quality is good, it can adapt to the large melting depth of surfacing.
