The concept of sodium-ion batteries has been around since the 1970s. Compared with lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries have unique advantages in terms of cost and resource reserve. However, the low energy density and short cycle life of sodium ion are also the key to limit its development.

The press conference of sodium ion in Ningde era analyzed the multi-dimensional innovation of the first generation of sodium ion batteries. Among the major highlights released are:

1. The energy density is 160Wh/kg;

2. sodium ion battery mixed with lithium battery;

3. Ningde Times introduced that 2023 will form a basic industrial chain, realize the rapid switch between sodium ion battery and lithium battery equipment, complete the rapid layout of production capacity;

Ningde Times also said that it welcomes the participation of relevant research institutions, upstream material suppliers and lower battery applications to jointly accelerate the improvement and development of the sodium ion battery industry chain.
