Is it better to use lithium battery or lead-acid battery for electric vehicle?
Date:2022.11.28Visits:Source:Xinde (Shenzhen) Laser Equipment Co., LTD
The most commonly used batteries for electric vehicles are lithium batteries and lead-acid batteries. With the continuous development and updating of lithium battery technology and its wide application, lithium batteries have had a certain influence in the electric vehicle industry. However, because of its own performance, cost performance and defects, lithium batteries still have a long way to go to completely replace the traditional lead-acid battery as the big brother. "The revolution has not been successful, lithium battery comrades still need to work hard!"

But what's the difference between the two? Follow Xinde Laser to learn about it.

1. Environmental comparison

Lithium batteries are pollution-free and adapt to the development of current national environmental protection policies; Lead-acid batteries are contaminated with the heavy metal lead.

2. Security comparison

The main materials of lithium battery are lithium manganate and lithium iron phosphate. Different materials lead to different safety. However, lead-acid battery technology has experienced 150 years of development, and its safety is much safer than that of lithium battery.

3. Service life comparison

Lithium battery is currently 1500 times of charging, and has no memory effect, about 85% of the storage capacity after 1500 times of charging; On the other hand, the storage capacity of lead-acid batteries decreases significantly after 500 times of charging, and there is an obvious memory effect, so the results are obtained. Lithium batteries will last longer.

4. Energy contrast

The mass ratio, volume ratio and energy ratio of lithium batteries are generally about 40% higher than that of lead-acid batteries.

5. Price comparison

Lithium batteries cost more than twice as much as lead-acid batteries for the same capacity.

6. Durability

Lithium battery durability is strong, good shock resistance, in the state of full charge, its safe fixed, slow consumption, its general life in 4-5 years; Lead-acid batteries typically last about two years. Note: If you use maintenance-free lead-acid batteries, you should pay attention to the small amount of water in the battery. There is generally no need to add distilled water in use.

All in all, lithium-ion battery models are better than lead-acid battery models in terms of endurance, battery life, environmental protection, vehicle handling and charging ease.
